Akumetsu

September 23, 2008

I’ve been reading a lot of manga on my spare time. Amongst them all, Akumetsu is probably my favourite.

Everything is always detailed to the smallest crack and I love the bold, strong lineart.

And the facial expressions are just so amazing. How well faces are executed is always an underlying factor as to whether or not I would keep reading a series.

The art is so great. Things like this make me want to start drawing again.

Things I learned today: At the end of Metal Gear 3, Big Boss is awarded with the Distinguished Service Cross, which is the second highest military decoration one can obtain. The only reason he wasn’t awarded the Medal of Honor was the fact that it requires statements from seven witnesses, while the DSC only needs three. Unfortunately for Big Boss, he only had three that would, or were alive to testify: Major Zero, Para-Medic, and Sigint.

Brawlfest.

September 21, 2008

After Friday’s classes we headed to Austin’s friend’s apartment to play a few games of Brawl. Chris and Q were pretty cool guys and both were proficient with lots of different characters. It was an awesome change in difficulty from the usual amounts of Snake vs. Lucas battles I usually play when Dan comes by to play. (Sorry Dan, ha ha.)

I’m actually a lot better than I thought I would be. My spotdodging and use of grabs have both improved a lot and both of which have drastically altered Snake’s play style. Guard dropping grenades has also become second nature to me now. Unlike before, it has become habit and I no longer fumble or lob with nades as I throw them. Not only is it lot easier to control, it opens the doors to many other advanced Grenade-based techniques. :]

Things I learned today: The enemy grenade drop glitch allows you to forcefully make your enemy drop a grenade that s/he has picked up from anywhere on the map.

Progress.

September 19, 2008

Today I managed to beat a level 4 CPU on Tetris DS for the first time. :]
And then I did it again.

level 4 owned

level 4 owned

Pretty darn good for a guy who couldn’t beat level 2’s two weeks ago, if I do say so myself.

Also, my awesome Wii-to-VGA cable from vdigi.com came in the mail today.

We’re gonna test it out in the computer labs at school tomorrow. This means I can train and play brawl with a wide array of awesome people during downtime on campus, rather than easy level 9 CPUs and the random time with a friend comes over. :]

Things I learned today: I like working with the HTML version rather than the visual when posting a new entry. I have way more control and freedom this way.

Procrastination.

September 16, 2008

Procrastination hit rather early this year. It’s only been 2.5 weeks into a new semester and I’ve already started/finished an assignment the day before it was due. The mere fact that it was worth 4% of my final grade and so trivial that took our group about 45 minutes to complete is no saving grace either. This year is off to a pretty bad start… ha ha.

However, the semester is still young. And you can bet before we’re through, Dino, I’ll make a man out of you! (HOOOAH!)

On another note, Tetris DS is fun again. I managed to consistently beat a level 3 CPU, which is a big jump for me. :]

Things I learned today: T-spinning is the act of twisting a ‘T’ tetromino into a tight space that it wouldn’t normally be able to get into. There are different variations of T-spins that can be used in a wide array of situations.

Cheap iPod Earphones.

September 14, 2008

My in-ear headphones died a couple months ago, and ever since I’ve been on the lookout for a new, relatively inexpensive pair. Well I found these bad boys on Deal Extreme. They’re exactly the same as the original iPod ones, except for the fact that compared to the official ones, they’re a shit load cheaper!

Looks like my new found e-shopping way of life isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, huh? :]

…So I guess WordPress wanted to start the first entry for me.

Not that I’m complaining, I’m usually horrible at starting things anyway. :]
